Ghar Ek Mandir is the remake of the most successful daily soap in the South called "Kudumbam".
It is an emotion-packed story of Aanchal, who is engaged to be married to Prem, the loving son of Gopal and Gayatri Kapoor.

Gopal and Gayatri Kapoor have four children Rajesh, Prem, Rahul and Archana. Rajesh, the oldest son is married and lives with his wife Sapna and two kids separately but is very much part of the family. Prem is the apple of his parents' eyes and is the backbone of the family. Rahul, the third son, is a qualified lawyer on the lookout for a job but is still very irresponsible and immature. The youngest is Archana - the only daughter and therefore somewhat spoilt. She has completed her studies and the family is very keen to see her married and settled in life.

Although intending to get Archana married first, having seen Aanchal, Prem's parents convince Prem to meet Aanchal. On meeting her, he agrees to marry her as he is convinced she is the perfect match for him. The entire family is looking forward to Aanchal and Prem's wedding and making Aanchal a part of their family.

For Aanchal, a whole new world awaits her. Having lost her parents at a very young age, she has been brought up with a lot of love and care by her elder brother Vishwajeet. Now, in one moment, her life will change...her so far small world will now be filled with a father-in-law, a mother-in-law, a husband and his brothers and sister.
